JCCL Helpdesk Job Opportunity

 

The School of Computing and Informational Sciences is looking for talented students to fill part-time positions within the Technical Helpdesk team. Working on the Helpdesk team will give you the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology as well as provide you with the work experience required for securing leading IT positions in the future.

We currently have positions available working in the Helpdesk that include assignments in both the CIS - JCCL Computer Lab and Desktop Support group. Main duties involve:

* Monitoring and maintaining a clean and productive lab environment
* Providing end-user technical support to faculty, staff, researchers and students
* Installing and troubleshooting hardware and software
* Maintaining system security by ensuring that operating systems are updated and patched and that anti-virus programs are up-to-date
* Deployment and maintenance of Information Technology Systems
* Deployment of computer operating system and application software via Norton Ghost.
* Researching methods to improve our services to faculty, researchers and students
* Other duties as requested by supervisors

Desired Qualifications
======================

Candidates must have detailed knowledge of multiple computer operating systems including Microsoft Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP, and 2003 Server. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems. Must have the ability to install and troubleshoot various applications, development software, and hardware. Ideal candidates will be CompTIA A+ Certified, however similar knowledge and work experience will compensate for lack of certification. Other certifications are a plus. Candidates must be Honest, Reliable, and Trustworthy. Candidates who have GPA's below a 2.0 will not be considered for this position.

OPS position, part-time (28 hours)
Rate is determined, based on experience.
